Have you met Rumi?               https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poet/jalal-al-din-rumi

He is one of my mentors. I don’t know why I should be so surprised that I have so much to learn from one who lived eight hundred years ago. Eight hundred years is barely a drop in the bucket. I remember seeing a timeline of creation on a wall at the Genesis Spiritual Center in Westfield http://genesisspiritualcenter.org/ a number of years back. Human existence is but a blip.

Many years ago a book caught my eye at the Cambridge Public Library – ‘The Illuminated Rumi’ – Translations by Coleman Barks and Illuminations by Michael Green. http://www.strandbooks.com/poetry-1/illuminated-rumi

It is bible to me.

Rise up nimbly and go on your strange journey to the ocean of meanings. The stream knows it can’t stay on the mountain. Leave and don’t look away from the sun as you go, in whose light you’re sometimes crescent, sometimes full.”

Rumi allows me my humanity.
